At Houghton Horns, we are thrilled to announce a new chapter in our journey with the acquisition of the historic property at 137 E Hill St in Keller, TX. This building, which has served the community in various capacities since the 1950s, first as a church and later as a funeral chapel, is set to become the new home of our retail operations by the summer of 2024.

Our decision to purchase this landmark space is fueled by our commitment to enhancing our service offerings and deepening our community ties. With 5,685 square feet at our disposal, including a versatile 2,035 square-foot auditorium, this facility will allow us to expand our retail environment significantly. During the week, the auditorium will serve as our primary showroom for high-quality brass instruments and accessories. On weekends, it will transform into a vibrant cultural venue hosting performances and masterclasses that showcase both classical and jazz music.

The relocation of our retail operations to 137 E Hill St, while maintaining our repair shop at 121 Lorine St, represents a strategic enhancement of our business capabilities. This new setup not only allows us to expand our inventory and improve customer experience but also helps us contribute more actively to Keller’s cultural scene.

We are genuinely excited about the possibilities this new space opens up—not just for our business but also for the entire Keller community. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our new location next summer, promising an enriched experience that celebrates the joy of music.

Transportation

We're about 25 minutes from DFW Airport. Taking an Uber from the airport to the shop costs about $40 as of October 2023. Unfortunately, there aren't good public transportation options in Keller. If you want to travel around DFW, you're probably better off renting a car.

Hotels

There is one hotel in town, the Hampton Inn & Suites Keller Town Center.
You should be able to find plenty of hotel options just south of us in Fort Worth.

Food Recommendation

DeVivo Bros. Eatery (pasta, salads, cake slices the size of your face)

  • Seven Mile Cafe (brunch)
  • Spice 8 (like Chipotle for Indian food, build your own curry burrito or curry pizza)
  • Cafe Medi (Mediterranean, the lemon chicken rice soup is *amazing*)

Spots

If you need a place to wait for a repair, there is a Starbucks right across the street. Or the Keller Public Library and Johnson Road Park are a few minutes away. The Keller Public Library has a great play room for toddlers.

Other fun places to visit in the DFW area:

  • See a rodeo at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
  • The Cowgirl Museum is a hoot.
  • Watch money be printed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
  • Walk around downtown Dallas: Klyde Warren Park, Dallas Museum of Art, Crow Collection of Asian Art, Federal Reserve Bank, samurai armor museum, Dallas World Aquarium, Perot Natural Science Museum, American Airlines Center tour. These are all within about 30 minutes on foot, if you don't mind a walk.
  • Alllll the sports: Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas, etc.
